National Steinback Center, a historic place located at the heart of Steinback Country, offers a wide variety of leisure and learning activities exclusively for kids. A lot of hands-on exhibits are here. The National Steinback Center featured exhibits and programs, educational resources and a museum store. The crown jewel, though, is the World Museum. Salinas has a page on BeachCalifornia.com, featured as the "Valley of the world" from author and native, John Steinbeck ("Of Mice and Men"). If you're interested in wine, there's a significant section of "wine escapes" worth looking into, whether you're local our visitor.

There's a message board, membership info, community calendar, and business directory. Also the Salinas Valley Chamber Business Journal. Good way to deepen involvement with the community.
An appealing area with mix of modest housing and well kept Victorian properties. Many are believed to be constructed in the late 1800's and early 1900's. A lot of them have been turned into office buildings, some are still homes, and there's a museum in old town.
Bull riding, steer wrestling and team roping here, is part of the the largest rodeo competition in California.
