City of Monterey California

City web site of Monterey. Everything from tree removal to starting a business can begin from this site. Police, fire, schools - it's all here.

The Inns of Monterey is a group of five, exclusively-designed boutique hotels whose mission is to provide genuine and intimate experiences to all their guests. The inns are surrounded by beaches.

Weekend Getaway

California's most popular destination is the Monterey Bay. Locals are always strolling along the Fisherman’s Wharf or can be seen sailing out on the water. Watching sea lions, doing the whale tour, hikng, biking or kayaking are popular shoreline and coastal trail activities.

Monterey Bay Aquarium

Good place to take your kids to learn about ocean life. Good views of the bay from here, and you can have lunch at the cafe. Or, if you're with your sweetheart, there's a more elegant restaurant and full service bar.

Monarch Grove Butterfly Sanctuary

Monarch Grove Butterfly is perfect in Winter. Thousands of beautiful butterflies are clustered on pine, eucalyptus, cypress and redwood trees. Great photo opportunity. Tourists come with the butterflies in October.

213 Seventeen Mile Drive

Located on the tip of the Monterey Peninsula, it is surrounded with magnificent views like the seasonal monarch butterflies, grazing deer, and the beaches and coastal shorelines. Also, a classic example of a 1920s Craftsman-style house is centrally located. Drive by (or bring your clubs to) class golf courses, and also Cannery Row and the aquarium.

Miniature Shows

Two popular miniatures shows are held in Monterey, California each holiday season to support long-standing arts organizations and keep their programs going. Collectors of miniatures abound. The Carmel Art Association and Monterey Museum of Art have hosted Miniatures since 1929.

Monterey Whale Watching

This is one great area for observing numerous whale species, including (just a few examples) gray whale, humpback whale, blue whale, fin whale, orca, as well as various dolphin, porpoise, and otter in Monterey Bay.

It's $5 to enter and there's a 5-hour walking tour to get acquainted with Old Monterey’s notable adobes. There are also a lot of historic buildings and restored gardens.
